I painted ""Turege" as part of the Nomads of Africa collection. The setting for this painting is at a water hole. I love the big Turege headdress which is normally black with matching wrap and blouse.

The Nomads:
Many tribes and groups of people living in the sub-sahara are forced to move with the seasons looking for greener pastures for their livestock from which they get their livelihood. With the advent of the colonial powers most areas in Africa became territorial.

Government are forcing most of these people settle down and earn an alternative living due to cross community raids for territory and livestock mainly cattle. in recent decades these have became more deadly as it has become easier for them to acquire automatic weapons
